I remain tired and burnt out from work, but I did manage to do something cool today.
I’ve long had a fascination with box jumps. I think they’re a cool, explosive movement and when you’re as heavy as I once was, “explosive movement” isn’t really a thing. I would marvel at my buddy/coach Pete as he did them. I knew someday I’d be able to.
My old gym didn’t have any, so the idea kinda vanished for awhile. But about 2 weeks ago or so, I stumbled into a side room at my new gym and BAM. There they were.
I started off slow and scared like always, but I’ve developed some comfort with the movement. Heck, I’ve already made it onto the medium-height box. It’s a cool feeling.
(And also exhausting, but that’s the point.)
