Joe Rogan, the MMA commentator, YouTube podcast machine and comedian, said on a recent show that he intermittently fasts. Rogan, like a lot of MMA insiders, is in great shape. I take his advice seriously, so I decided to dig around a little.
After conferring with my trainer/coach/deliverer of chastisement, Pete, we decided trying it for me could be worth the attempt. There are some scientific benefits to intermittently fasting that I find intriguing, but for me this boils down to one word.
I am a structure-driven animal, folks, as I’ve written here many times. If I stay inside the walls I errect around me, I do fine. Intermittent fasting is yet another board, another tool to keep me in the correct lane.
You’ll be hearing about this more as I go on, but for now the general plan is to eat only between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Today, to accomodate evening plans, it’s more like 10:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
With my work schedule still a bit unclear, I’ll be flexible as necessary. I see this as adding an arrow to my quiver, and I need all the shots I can get to tackle this challenge.
