Day 125 – The gift of peace

In the rush of a busy week, amid the stress of church responsibility, work getting togher and the clash of school reaching its end (plus as always, training in the gym, I could use a simple reminder of what God offers us.

Couldn’t you? It’s amazing how the speed of life distracts us from the realities of God, and the benefits of faith beyond simply having eternal life.

And so, I present to you:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

-Philippians 4:6-7

In every situation, without anxiety, pray and petition (with thankfulness) to our loving, caring, graceful Lord. Paul doesn’t say God will grant each request. No. He instead tells us that God gives us something greater. Indeed, there is something better than being given what we want.

What is that better option? Simply … that peace which transcends all understanding. Why? Because it leads us deeper into the faith we hold dear. It’s an amazing gift, and one I have found myself praying for routinely.
