Simple, yet powerful words.
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. -Colossians 3:1-4
Look beyond your pain, look beyond your frustration, look beyond even your sin. Look beyond it all, and dwell simply on what is above.
It’s a nice sounding idea, isn’t it? But how does one do this? What are the steps to “setting our minds on things that are above?” I know I’ve lately done a bad job of it, perhaps a very bad job in fact.
It always begins in the Word for me. I’ve been lax with that lately, and as usual, a few weeds sprout up in the garden. But it will be pruned, and I will grow.
